11 PDP Governors Urge S’Court to Halt Rivers Emergency Rule Eleven state governors belonging to the Peoples Democratic Party have officially filed a lawsuit at the Supreme Court to challenge President Bola Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State and his suspension of the state's democratically elected governor, deputy governor, and house of assembly members. The legal action, brought forward by the attorney generals of Adamawa, Enugu, Osun, Oyo, Bauchi, Akwa Ibom, Plateau, Delta, Taraba, Zamfara, and Bayelsa states, asks the apex court to determine whether the president has the constitutional authority to suspend elected state structures and replace them with an unelected sole administrator, arguing that such actions violate the constitution and the principles of federalism.
