Following heavy security deployment, local government chairmen and councillors elected under the All Progressives Congress during the October 2022 elections in Osun State resumed their duties at various council secretariats across the thirty local government areas. While former special adviser Jamiu Olawumi confirmed the resumption and issued a seventy-two-hour ultimatum for workers to return to their posts, the state governor had previously directed that the officials should not assume office, and the state chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress advised workers to stay away due to the ongoing political dispute.
