The pioneer students of the Centre for Advanced Library and Information Management (CALIM) Enugu recently defended their research work for the award of National Diploma in Library and Information Science (LIS). The Head of CALIM, Mrs Dumebi Chijioke and two other members of the faculty, Mrs Onyekachi Essien and Mrs Igwe were among the panel who guided the students, ensuring a seamless process. The college Librarian, Mrs Onyecherelam and the Ag. Registrar, Mrs Chinedu Uzor also witnessed the event.
The students, eight in number were the pioneer students of the institution, which took off in 1993, while the students were admitted in 2023 when academic programmes commenced fully. They have successfully passed through the two years intensive and rigorous training to acquire a diploma in Library and Information Science. It is hoped that with the recent accreditation of the college by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), these first set of students will continue their studies to Higher National Diploma (HND).
On behalf of CALIM and the supervisory organization, the National Library of Nigeria, we say a big congratulations to them for achieving this milestone.
