Enugu State Branch celebrates World Book and Copyright Day 2023

National Library of Nigeria, Enugu State branch celebrated the World Book and Copyright Day in collaboration with members of the library book club and the Nigerian Copyright Commission.

The theme for the year is “Indigenous Language”

Every year on 23rd of April, the World Book and Copyright Day is observed to celebrate the importance of books as a link between the past and the present, to connect generations and cultures .

The Head of Nigerian Copyright Commission, Enugu State branch, Mrs Ngozi Okeke interacted with the children on issues about copyright and the need for Indigenous Language. She highlighted the rich cultural heritage of native languages in literature and storytelling. The Children were encouraged to read and love books written in Igbo Languague. She later engaged them in a Q/A session.

Finally, the Commission gave each of the children an Igbo language book and another written in English.
